Tamar Valley Steiner School Council
Our first School Council was formed at our inaugural AGM on 12 January 2016.
Our current School Council members are listed below.
Ryan Hagan
Ryan currently holds the position of Chairperson on School Council. Ryan is a passionate and dedicated member of the school community and this is his second year on the School Council. He has an Associate degree in Aquaculture and a diploma in Work Health & Safety. Working in the fishing and aquaculture industry for more than 15 years, his current role is at Petuna as the WHS Manager providing high level advice to the CEO and Executive Team as well as coaching front line managers & staff on WHS issues. He believes in the rich cultural experience that Steiner Education provides to students, along with the hands-on practical side that ‘you just don’t seem to get in mainstream schools’. Ryan is looking forward to working alongside our other School Council members and growing the school into the future. |
Caroline Sinclair B.Comm, M.Env, PhD (Soc)
Caj currently holds the position of Treasurer on School Council. Caroline has been involved with the school since its inception and is a passionate supporter of Steiner Education in Launceston. She has 3 children who attend the playgroup and school. Caroline brings financial skills to the School Council having completed a Bachelor of Commerce and worked for more than 20 years as an Auditor, Tax Accountant, and general Accountant, primarily in the non-government organisation sector. Caroline previously worked for the school both in voluntary and paid capacity and has attended many professional development sessions relating to governance and Independent School administration. Caroline is also passionate about collaboration; having completed a PhD on this subject in 2010, she enjoys finding new ways to work with people to create positive social change. |
Samantha Northeast
Samantha currently holds the position of Public Officer and also Secretary on School Council. Sam is a Pharmacist and mother of three children. She has been working as a professional pharmacist since 2004 and has been involved in the Rainbow Garden Playgroup and Tamar Valley Steiner School since 2014. She completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy with honours at the University of Tasmania and has almost completed a Master of Teaching, also through UTAS. She has been a small business owner, been a member of a service club and been on the committee for Rainbow Garden Playgroup. Through her varied experience Sam has developed skills in small business management, Human Resourcing, budgeting, policy and procedure development and implementation, board functions and processes and primary school teaching. Personally, she is dedicated to the School and has two children attending currently. She regularly contributes her time and resources and has a keen desire to see the school grow and flourish. |
Karina Stojansek
Karina is the longest serving member of our School Council, having been re-elected in 2019 for a further 3 year term. She has been involved with the Launceston Friends of Steiner Inc playgroup for over 10 years, since her first child was 6 months old. She served on the committee for two years and believes passionately in Steiner Education incorporating many Steiner philosophies into her everyday life. Karina is on, and has served on, several committees over the past 20 years in positions such as President, Treasurer and Secretary. With extensive senior management experience in small to medium business, most recently as General Manager of a state-wide training company, she is also a Councillor in the Launceston City Council. Karina studied a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Tasmania and has skills in finance, human resource management and business operations. Karina has a passion for building community and believes strongly in the importance of family, health and living a sustainable lifestyle. |
We recently welcomed Karen Swabey onto our School Council, Karen brings a wealth of knowledge with strong education and governance experience.
